Sweden: The WFTU stands on the side of Swedish Dockworkers

Athens, Greece – 5 March 2019

The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), representing 95 million workers in 130 countries of the whole world, stands on the side of Swedish dockworkers who are set to go on strike from March the 6th, in order to claim the signing of a Collective Agreement.

The big WFTU family reiterates its internationalist solidarity and class support to our brothers and sisters in Sweden, who don’t bend the knee before the employers, who stand up for their modern needs against the Swedish government, who don’t obey to the anti-labour recipes of the European Union and the World Bank.

At the same time, we condemn every attempt for lockout by the employers, any attempt to shut off workers from their workplace. We also strongly oppose to every manipulation aimed at limiting or banning the worker’s right to strike.

The big WFTU family is committed to undertake any action needed to raise awareness for the Swedish dockworkers strike and at the same time calls upon the Swedish people to actively stand on the side of the strikers.
